Design
Let's look at design, first. Companies want to make a smartphone that people will love. The look of it is very important.
For design, the Samsung GALAXY S6 Edge is my choice. Not only does it feature metal sides and glass at the front/back, but it features a display that curves onto both edges. This is certainly the most unique smartphone design that I've ever seen. Samsung basically nailed it with this one.
Runner-up: Nexus 6P.

Battery
With smartphones becoming our mini assistants, throughout our day, we need great battery life. Some companies, like Apple, kill the essence of battery life, to make the design of the device: thinner and lighter. For a fact, though, people just want massive battery life.
Introducing the Motorola Droid Turbo 2. It's a successor to last year's Droid Turbo, but better. The battery is killer. It feature a 3760mAh battery, which has the capability of running for 48 hours on one single charge.
