For the first time, in the history of the company, BlackBerry has created a smartphone running Android. How does it tackle with the competition? Can it save the company?
Design
Priv brings an all-new design from BlackBerry. Something that we have never seen before. With metal and a soft touch back, Priv gears up to be a comeback smartphone.
It starts out with the display. Priv features a 5.4" AMOLED dual curved display, with a resolution of 2560x1440 (540 PPI). It's seems to have accurate colors and is easy to look at.

Who can forget the gem of BlackBerry? I'm talking about that keyboard. Yes, BlackBerry Priv features a physical, slide out keyboard which can function as a touch pad. The ability of using two keyboards (on-screen and physical) brings a user friendly customization to the device.
Specs
BlackBerry Priv features the Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core processor, which is 64-bit. In regular use, the device shouldn't stutter or lag. Graphics should be okay with the Adreno 418 (600 MHz GPU).
With 3GB RAM, Priv seems to be good at handling multiple apps in the background.
The camera tech is tight. An 18-megapixel camera lies on the soft touch rear. With all those photos taken, 32GB of storage should hold a lot of them.
Sharing and connectivity are big, when it comes to smart devices. BlackBerry Priv features NFC connectivity, alongside with a microUSB 2.0 connector. Yes, no USB Type-C for this phone, but Type-C is still new and this is BlackBerry's shot at coming back. The main point, microUSB shouldn't be a problem.
Alongside, with near stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, Priv features BlackBerry's new DTEK security software. When BlackBerry unveiled this device, it was said that it would be on point with security. DTEK is there to back that point up.
Overall, I think BlackBerry really does have a shot again. Although it's an entirely new design, Priv continues to be a BlackBerry device that people should enjoy.
P.S. BlackBerry isn't done yet. Their next Android smartphone, BlackBerry Vienna, is in the works...
